5 Things You Must Know Before Choosing an Artist

Congrats on making the decision to simplify your daily routine through permanent makeup! This can be one of the best decisions you wish you had done sooner or one you will regret. That is why I created the top 5 things you should know before choosing an artist.

1) Licensed & Certified:

In most states it is crucial to have a tattoo license or work out of a licensed facility. Along with specific certifications given after proper training, having Blood Borne Pathogen training is a must! This ensures the artist understands and complies with safety and sanitary procedures.

2) Experience & Knowledge:

Knowledge of different skin types, depth of needle, as well as color theory are very important when it comes to cosmetic tattoos. Not every skin type is suitable for permanent makeup. Proper depth will ensure your permanent makeup will fade properly over time. Color theory is much more than selecting the correct color to match the brow hairs. Makeup sits on top of the skin, but pigment will be implanted under the skin. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

3) Artist Style & Consistency:

Every artist has a style, so be sure your artists style fits you. Does the artist produce consistent work? Have you seen healed pictures of the artists work? If you have not seen healed pictures; ask! Skill is shown in the healed results, babe this is your face we are talking about!

4) Reviews & Testimonials:

Happy clients leave happy reviews! You can gain a lot of information from client reviews. Whether it’s how happy they are with their new brows, clients full experience, how they feel about the artist, etc. As an artist we love referrals, reviews and happy clients!

5) Price:

Notice how I put price at the very end? If you wouldn’t go the cheap route when it comes to your health, why would you with your face? Making the wrong choice can cause you regret and cost even more money in the long run. It can take several removal sessions to lighten the area depending how deep the pigment sits under the skin.
